Comparative Fields

Architecture is about creating or enhancing experiences of the built environment through formal spatial arrangement, based on constraints like urban context, program usage, circulation, and gravity.

Philosophy is about creating or enhancing experiences of our life through the application of principles, based on constraints like logic, reality and objective, verifiable truth.

Psychology is about creating or enhancing experiences of ourself though introspection, based on constraints like emotion, cognition, and behavior.

I’m an architect by trade so this may sound a little self-serving, but I genuinely think these three fields are linked in an important way – habitat, community, individual.
